Prodigy Aerial Silk (Aerial Fabric / Tissus) - Low Stretch Aerial Silks - 280cm width
Professional level low stretch silks, perfect for training and performance.
Please note the size listed is the total length of the silk.
Aerial Silks are rigged from the centre the working length is a little under half the total length.
*please note* The colour in the turquoise fabric is sensitive to UV light, and will fade if left in bright direct sunlight or powerful flourescents. This will not affect the strength of the fabric.
Price is for the fabric only, rigging accessories are sold separately.
Why Should you choose Prodigy Aerial Silks?
LOW STRETCH
The Prodigy Silks are woven with a tricot warp knit, giving them a small amount of bounce (Low-Stretch does not mean zero-stretch) without making them so stretchy as to drain your energy while climbing. This gives them enough cushioning for drops while leaving you with the stamina for long performances and routines.
For learning drops, see our Firetoys Aerial Silks.
DOUBLE WIDTH
At 2.8m/110 inches wide, these are excellent for cocoons and width-based wraps. They’re also perfect as a yoga hammock or silks hammock/loop/sling! You can find our 6m Aerial Yoga sets with this fabric here.
Although they’re wide, at 40 deniers, they won't be too bulky for most aerialists' hands!
Shiny and practical
These silks have a beautiful shine, giving a fantastic look to any performance while remaining grippy enough to climb easily. They also have just enough weight to stay in place for you without weighing you down while wrapping.
Prodigy has also included a reusable bag with these silks, perfect for safely carrying and storing your silk.

rigging options
An aerial hook (sold separately) is required to hang this silk. Please use ONLY the Prodigy Aerial Silks Hook or the Prodigy Elevate - Figure 8 for Aerial Silks to connect to the silk directly.
If you're looking for something unique, you can use 2x Aerial Silks and a Prodigy Elevate - Figure 8 to create amazing dual colour aerial silks! Check out how to prepare this safely and securely here.

VIDEO GUIDES FOR CHOOSING AND RIGGING YOUR SILKS
Confused about which silks to choose or how to rig them? Don't worry!
We've partnered with Circus Safety & Rigging to create these fantastic videos.
Mark Gibson from Aerial Edge, Glasgow’s Circus School, and Catherine Knowles, from Community Circus Paisley, will share their knowledge with you, and if you need to know anything else - we're here to help you too!
This Video goes through how to choose your silks, what kind, how long, etc, but the colour is up to you!
This Video will demonstrate the range of rigging hooks, and how to tie your silks to them
Here our friends at Circus Rigging list the variety of other rigging accessories you might need with your silks.
IMPORTANT NOTE…
Everything above assumes you have a suitable and safe rigging point, like a professionally installed rigging point or a reputable and rated freestanding rig. Not every home/studio will be the same.
If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer/experienced rigger/professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it. You can find more information on how to install at home here and general aerial safety here.
These silks are listed as the entire length of the cut fabric, but to use as silks will need folding in half and tying to a Prodigy Aerial Silks Hook or figure 8 (sold separately). This knot usually takes up about 0.5m of the fabric, and you will also want some fabric left at floor level to allow slack for wraps.
Choose a length of silk that is double the height of the area/rig you are using, plus 2 metres.
For a low ceiling height (4m and below, for example), you may want to consider a longer length of fabric to give you more tail. You will run out of tail quickly when practicing wraps with a low ceiling height.

SLACK DROPS
All Aerial fabrics are prone to reaching high temperatures during long or high-energy slack drops, sometimes resulting in small melted patches and even holes. These holes are caused by the friction of the fabric rubbing against itself and the performer during high-speed movement. Nylon and low-stretch fabrics are more susceptible, so the stretchy polyester of the Firetoys Silks is slightly less prone to this phenomenon. However, you should always take care when practicing slack drops and be aware of the high amount of friction you can generate during these drops.
If you regularly perform slack drops, you will need to inspect the entire length of your fabric regularly, and the fabric will need to be replaced more often
Aerial acrobatics products have a different returns policy from the rest of our catalogue. Please make sure you are familiar with this before buying.
